Continued Excellence for SIR

Billings, Montana and Casper, Wyoming-Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber wrapped up a two-week road trip with plenty of fans screaming for the truck and a couple more trophies to add to the case at the shop. It has simply been a dream summer for the team wins-wise, as Amsoil Shock Therapy’s wins triple its losses, and Amsoil Excaliber’s steady improvement with Kevin Koszala behind the wheel has lead to the team being a great one-two punch at any show, anytime.

“Having Kevin driving Amsoil Excaliber really is a great addition to Sudden Impact Racing,” said Amsoil Shock Therapy’s Jon Zimmer. “It’s important for us to be a threat anywhere we go, and Kevin has already improved by leaps and bounds since he got here.”

Koszala showed that improvement in Billings, beating Bigfoot in racing. Amsoil Shock Therapy took over from there, with a final round racing appearance and then a freestyle for the ages, even in the tight confines of the arena in Billings. After the complete performance and freestyle victory for Amsoil Shock Therapy, it was on to Casper, where more success awaited the team.

Sometimes when obstacles get in the way, the best thing a driver can do is to simply push through them. The mental obstacle for Zimmer and Amsoil Shock Therapy was the fact that Amsoil Excaliber was out of action early due to breakage; the physical was the full arenacross track that gave the truck little space to work with in freestyle, as well as the elevation (5000 feet above sea level), which takes a toll on the engines. After another final-round appearance in racing, Amsoil Shock Therapy burned it down in freestyle and had no breakage to boot.

“It’s been a great couple of weeks; we’ve been busy,” said Zimmer. “The thing I’m most proud of is how little breakage we’ve suffered all summer. Keeping a truck together is not easy, but I’m proud of everyone on the team.”

Indeed, there’s a lot to be proud of. For now, the team will be making preparations for the coming winter season. Stay tuned for updates!

Phoenix, AZ- A grueling four-day week of shows with Sudden Impact’s Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Michigan Ice Monster has come to a close, and the Arizona State Fair couldn’t be happier at the results from the show.

“We had a great crowd, and I had a great time driving,” said Ice Monster’s Chris Lagana. “Team Chris took on this task and we ran hard during all of our shows.”

Indeed they did, and when the last freestyle of the week was done and the dust settled, the fans cheered for Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Michigan Ice Monster.

SIR Freestyles in Oklahoma

Ada, OK-After a rain-soaked weekend that saw the event postponed, Sudden Impact Racing’s Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Michigan Ice Monster finally got their chance to light up the show and bring the heat to the Oklahoma fans that had been so patient, bringing home a victory and some nice momentum for the team.

With a wheelie contest and three rounds of freestyle, this was all about individual performance, and Sudden Impact Racing excelled. Michigan Ice Monster was able to bring home a freestyle victory with lots of air, good donuts, and great momentum to captivate the audience.

“I really enjoy it whenever I can take a win,” said driver Chris Lagana. “I love freestyle, and being on top in that without tearing the truck up is a double win.”

Indeed, there are a lot of risks in freestyle, and one of the big risk-takers on the night was Chris “Panda” Ryan in Redcat Racing Ground Pounder, who showed no fear in grabbing the biggest air of the night, even getting a couple of slap wheelies as well.

“I’m really happy our team was able to do so well this weekend,” said Ryan. “We’re very competitive and enjoy winning, so it’s that much sweeter that we’ll be able to bring home a victory to the shop before we get ready for the next show.”

After another successful weekend, Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Michigan Ice Monster will head next to Phoenix, Arizona November 3-6. We’ll keep you posted!

SIR Wins Worldwide

Markham and Simcoe, Ontario and Rolla, Missouri-Sudden Impact Racing’s Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Michigan Ice Monster have been blazing a trail all over the United States and Canada, continuing to reach new corners of the world to impress fans with their racing and freestyle abilities. The past few weeks have been filled with long hours, lots of travel, and several wins as well.

The trip began in Markham, where the highlight was another big racing victory for the team; this time it was Chris Lagana in Michigan Ice Monster racking up another win for Sudden Impact Racing.

“It’s great to get a win anywhere, and these fans up north here are just as excited about monster trucks as anywhere else,” said Lagana. “We travel a long way to come entertain them, and I want to make sure they leave happy.”

They did indeed leave happy, even after a muddy second night that gave a lot of drivers trouble. Redcat Racing Ground Pounder knocked the mud off in Simcoe and took two victories, one with a fantastic high-speed multi-revolution donut in the donut contest, then a tie for the freestyle victory.

“Redcat Racing Ground Pounder was running good after some trouble in the mud,” said driver Chris Ryan. “I enjoy taking victories and entertaining these great fans, so when I can do both, it’s worth the trip.”

Finally, the team concluded a whirlwind couple of weeks with a stop back in the States, Missouri to be exact. Wheelie competition, donuts, and two rounds of freestyle in two separate shows on one day puts a lot of wear and tear on both trucks and drivers, but Sudden Impact Racing powered through it, with a solid performance from Michigan Ice Monster leading to an awesome dual freestyle from Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Bounty Hunter to close the evening.

More from the team soon! Stay tuned.

SIR Fast in Fort Smith

Fort Smith, Arkansas-Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber kept right on winning in Fort Smith, with some spectacular moments along the way.

The night began with the wheelie contest, where the continued aggression and improvement of Kevin Koszala behind the wheel of Amsoil Excaliber showed. Koszala skied Amsoil Excaliber towards the roof of the building, coming down hard on one tire and flopping over onto its side. Both driver and truck were unhurt and able to continue on.

Amsoil Excaliber would pick up the wheelie contest win and keep all four tires down…that is, after nearly hitting the rafters of the arena with his wheelie effort! That attitude continued right on into freestyle, where Amsoil Excaliber lost brakes and bounced into a huge wheelie that broke some parts, but again, left fans on their feet screaming for Sudden Impact Racing.

The night belonged to Amsoil Shock Therapy and Jon Zimmer, as he would again show why he is one of the best drivers in the world. Amsoil Shock Therapy put on a two-minute clinic of big air, wheelies, and multiple killer sets of donuts that left the brake rotors glowing, dirt all over the place, and the crowd cheering for more.

“We love it when we win; it’s good for Amsoil, it’s good for Sudden Impact Racing, and it is the best feeling in the world to please those fans in the stands,” said Zimmer. “We did what we could given the space in the arena, and everyone seemed happy.”

Next up, the team heads to Billings, Montana. Stay tuned!

Longview – What it’s All About

Longview, Texas-Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber continued their winning ways, and also had the support of a very special fan along the way. Every year the monster truck tour comes to Longview, Rowdy is there to support Jon Zimmer and Amsoil Shock Therapy.

“Sometimes it’s not about the wins or the scores or any of that other competition stuff,” said Amsoil Shock Therapy’s Jon Zimmer. “It’s about those fans that support us. Rowdy and his family have treated us great since day one, and it was awesome to be around great fans and friends like them.”

Amsoil Shock Therapy Monster Truck

Bolstered by the support, it was Amsoil Excaliber’s turn to shine in racing after Amsoil Shock Therapy was being fixed for freestyle. Rapidly improving Kevin Koszala took Amsoil Excaliber to the racing finals, suffering a narrow defeat but gaining new fans and experience in the process.

“I was really happy with standing up those wheelies well, then making the finals,” said Koszala. “I’m always ready for more and I’m loving driving the Amsoil Excaliber.”

Amsoil Shock Therapy closed out the show by doing a dual freestyle with Bounty Hunter just for the fans. Plenty of air, jumps off of every obstacle, and donuts were all included in another stellar run to close the night.

Now, the team heads to Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia. Stay tuned!

Redcat Racing Ground Pounder/Michigan Ice Monster Crush Casper and Reno

Reno, Nevada and Casper, Wyoming-Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Michigan Ice Monster have continued to thrill fans nationwide with a number of impressive performances recently, including some big wins.

It all started in Reno, where Michigan Ice Monster got the crowd on their feet early with good freestyles and a final-round appearance against teammate Redcat Racing Ground Pounder on night two. Lagana mentioned that it’s always a treat to race his teammate in the finals.

“Sudden Impact Racing trucks being the only two left is always are goal,” said Lagana. “It was nice to reach that goal, though I would have liked to win. If I have to lose to anyone, I’d rather it be to a teammate.”

That teammate was Chris Ryan and Redcat Racing Ground Pounder, who stole the show all weekend long with racing victories both nights, as well as a tie for freestyle in night two that was broken in a crowd cheer-off. When Redcat Racing Ground Pounder is in a groove, it’s tough to beat.

“We loved how Reno went,” said Ryan. “I had the Ground Pounder hooking up and moving just how I wanted it to, and it’s great to have these wins to take back to the shop.”

From there, it was on to Casper, Wyoming, where the success kept right on coming. Michigan Ice Monster continued to set the bar high early, with great momentum and air in its freestyle run. The long hours on the road pay off for the team when they thrill crowds and nothing breaks, and Lagana was pleased.

“I was happy with how I did in Ice Monster; it’s tough going out in the front half for freestyle sometimes so I may not get a shot at winning, but I make sure those fans are happy and try not to hurt the truck.”

Redcat Racing Ground Pounder closed out another successful weekend with a narrow defeat in the finals motivating a top-notch freestyle, with great air and tons of high-speed donuts, something Ryan felt was necessary in the small arena.

“We didn’t have a lot to work with, so I figured I’d find something different and unique to excite the crowd,” he said. “Donuts are always a winner and show some skill on the driver’s part too. We were happy to come away with another win. Three in two weeks is great!”

The team heads next to Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia. We’ll keep you posted!

Fayetteville, NC –Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber continued their summer tour with some blazing-fast racing and freestyle passes, beginning in Fayetteville.
