More Wins in Garden City

Houghton, Michigan and Garden City, Kansas-Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber’s whirlwind tour of destruction continued with events in Michigan and Kansas recently, and they didn’t disappoint.

In Houghton, Amsoil Shock Therapy saw some trouble, as a broken axle in the wheelie contest hindered the truck throughout the night. Teammate truck Amsoil Excaliber, however, continued to improve and picked things up with a final round appearance.

I am feeling better every week in Amsoil Excaliber,” said driver Kevin Koszala. “Jon had some bad luck and I was happy to be able to keep things going well for the team.”

Every time things don’t go Sudden Impact Racing’s way, they just come back harder and faster, and that is exactly what happened at the next event in Garden City. After being shut out of a victory on a weekend for the first time in months, Amsoil Shock Therapy and Jon Zimmer were ready to let it rip, and dominated the Sunday event with a racing and freestyle sweep. Amsoil Shock Therapy is known for taking a beating and continuing its freestyle runs as well as being fast on the race course, and it lived up to its reputation on the weekend. When the dust settled, Sudden Impact and Amsoil had another victorious weekend under their belts.

I love winning, and I love the support that we have,” said Zimmer. “We’ve just been running hard, keeping things going as best we can, and we went on a nice run. I’m excited to keep going!”

The team will do just that, as they are scheduled for Fayetteville, North Carolina this weekend. We will keep you posted on all the action from there!

Gaithersburg Continues the Streak

Gaithersburg, Maryland-Once again, there was no stopping Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber, as the team showed continued improvement and kept what is known as “The Streak” alive, once again taking at least one victory during a weekend.

At this point, we just feel very fortunate,” said Amsoil Shock Therapy driver Jon Zimmer. “Not that we didn’t earn it, believe me, we work hard, but you have to have some things go your way and get the right support. Amsoil and Sudden Impact Racing give us that.”

Amsoil Excaliber continues to improve with Kevin Koszala behind the wheel, and solid efforts all weekend in wheelie, racing, and freestyle left the fans excited for the future. It’s obvious Amsoil Excaliber is in good hands.

I’m getting more comfortable every weekend in the truck,” said Koszala. “I love being a part of a team like this, and I will continue to improve so the team gets better too!”

It can’t get much better than this for Sudden Impact Racing, but Amsoil Shock Therapy seeks to prove that thought wrong every weekend. It was complete dominationin freestyle, where Amsoil Shock Therapy tore through every obstacle on the track en route to wins both nights.

We’re gonna keep this win streak rolling as long as we can,” said Zimmer. “I’m just really proud of what we have going here.”

The Summer Sweep Tour

Monroe and Cassopolis, Michigan, Crown Point, Indiana, and Wayne County Fair-(photos from Jason Twite)Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber have been on a whirlwind tour of domination, pulling off double-digit victories between the two trucks in a five-show span including Monroe and Cassopolis, Michigan, Crown Point, Indiana, and the Wayne County Fair.

In Monroe, Amsoil Shock Therapy came away with a racing victory, and a runner-up effort in freestyle. Amsoil Excaliber also put in a solid run.

Cassopolis brought transmission issues, as Amsoil Shock Therapy lost second gear in the transmission, but Sudden Impact Racing dealt with the adversity and both Amsoil Excaliber and Amsoil Shock Therapy had great freestyles, with Amsoil Shock Therapy earning second place. Amsoil Excaliber’s Kevin Koszala continued to show improvement at all shows, notching another nice freestyle in Cassopolis.

Amsoil Excaliber didn’t stop there, marching all the way to the racing finals in Crown Point on night one. Amsoil Shock Therapy picked up right where Excaliber left off, taking wheelie and freestyle victories to close night one. Night two saw a big racing victory from Amsoil Excaliber, then wheelie and freestyle victories from Amsoil Shock Therapy.

“Anytime our two trucks are in competition, we’re a threat to win in my mind,” said Amsoil Shock Therapy’s Jon Zimmer. “We have the equipment to do it, and Kevin (of Amsoil Excaliber) has been coming along really nicely.”

A highlight of the Wayne County Fair show was the personal wheelie contest the two trucks held—Amsoil Excaliber had such a good wheelie attempt that it ripped the tailgate off, then Amsoil Shock Therapy followed with two massive past-vertical leaps. Amsoil Shock Therapy would take the wheelie, racing, and freestyle wins at this show as well to round out a weekend of fantastic shows.

Next up for the team is Gaithersburg, Maryland; no rest for the weary. We will keep you posted on all the action from there!

Ground Pounder Dominates Hamilton

Hamilton, Ohio-Sudden Impact Racing’s Redcat Racing Ground Pounder has been on the road quite a bit, wrapping a successful stop in Canada, then heading back to the states and making a statement in Ohio. In two nights of competition in racing and freestyle, Redcat Racing Ground Pounder was undefeated, with fast racing passes and dominating freestyle runs.

“I feel at home driving Ground Pounder,” said driver Chris Ryan. “The truck worked great, and it was a big thrill to come out here and perform for all the great fans in Hamilton and take the big wins at both shows.”

Redcat Racing Ground Pounder didn’t lose a single race on the weekend, defeating every truck in the field at least once in a flawless effort. Reactions on the straight line racing course were key, and Ryan cut great lights both nights to flat-out dominate.

Redcat Racing Ground Pounder also put on one heck of a show in both freestyles, with big air over the van stack, slap wheelies, and a very fast pace around the track, resulting in hands-down wins both nights. The highlight of the weekend came when Ground Pounder took an awkward hit on the van stack, twisted sideways in midair, then landed hard on the right side, nearly flipping until Ryan did some quick thinking and powered out of the rollover.

“I thought I was going over for sure, but those rollovers are costly,” said Ryan. “I didn’t want to let the team down and the fans loved the move. We fixed the tire getting knocked off the bead during the save, and now we’re good to go for Gaithersburg, Maryland next week.”

Indeed they are, as Gaithersburg promises to be another exciting show. Redcat Racing Ground Pounder will build on the momentum there! We’ll keep you posted.

Six in a Row for SIR

(photos from Ed Hoormann and Josh Rhodes, AllMonster.com) Jonesboro, IL-Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber are on a roll–a major roll! Six straight weekends of competition have gone by, and six straight weekends, the Amsoil Shock Therapy has come away with a victory in either racing, freestyle, or both.

A streak like this can be attributed to many things—support of the SIR team, crew, equipment—but most of all, it comes down to skill on the track. Amsoil Shock Therapy’s Jon Zimmer has been up to the challenge for a month and a half, with a target on his back everywhere. After Jonesboro, that target will stay put. Two shows and three victories later, Amsoil Shock Therapy is still rolling right along.

“When the equipment is right, and I’ve got my head on straight, I don’t feel that we’re anything less than a top-tier team,” said Zimmer. “We go out and try to put that Amsoil Shock Therapy in the winner’s circle every weekend, and we’ve got a great streak going.”

Not only is Amsoil Shock Therapy on a roll, but Amsoil Excaliber is making fantastic strides as well with Kevin Koszala behind the wheel gaining great experience and putting on some fantastic freestyles in particuler, including a trip through a mobile home this weekend. This is the aggressive driving that helps set up winning runs.

“I’ve really been working on my momentum and I love the equipment we have at Sudden Impact Racing,” said Koszala.

Amsoil Shock Therapy picked right up where Amsoil Excaliber started, with more big air, a slap wheelie, and a quick set of trademark donuts for the crowd in Jonesboro. When the dust settled, Amsoil Shock Therapy and Sudden Impact Racing had another victory in the bag, and another addition to the streak.

Sudden Impact Racing will try for seven weeks in a row at Monroe, Michigan this weekend. We’ll keep you updated from there!

Nothing But Wins

Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy has been on a roll lately, winning wheelie, racing, and freestyle at the Soaring Eagle Casino’s second annual Monster Truck Madness, a freestyle win in Marne, and a racing victory last weekend in Columbus, Nebraska. It’s been nothing but success for Amsoil Excaliber as well, with driver Kevin Koszala finding a home in the truck and steadily improving every night, especially in the momentum department.

“We’ve just been really happy with things lately all around for Sudden Impact Racing,” said Zimmer. “I’ve been happy with the way the truck’s performed, and Amsoil and Sudden Impact are a winning combination.”

Indeed they have been, with Amsoil Shock Therapy’s signature power being demonstrated in every competition, including the crowd favorite–freestyle. Big air, cyclone donuts, slap wheelies…you name it, Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber have done it these past few weeks, and it’s been a great winning streak for the team.

“This just proves that with the right support, we can go anywhere we want in the sport,” said Zimmer. “I truly believe that.”

Next, the team heads to Jonesboro, Illinois for another weekend of thrills, and hopefully, a month straight of wins. We’ll keep you posted!
