(photos courtesy Trea Dodson) Fort Worth, Texas-Sudden Impact Racing ran as hot as the weather in Fort Worth, matching the blazing temperatures with red-hot races and freestyles all weekend. Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Cult Energy Activator persevered, even with 100-plus degree temperatures on-track.

“It was a hot one this weekend, that is for sure,” said Cult Energy Activator’s Ben Winslow. “Sudden Impact Racing came through great though, and we didn’t miss any rounds and were competitive all weekend!”

Competitive was an understatement, as Cult Energy Activator made a final and semi-final round appearance in two days, and both Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Cult Energy Activator put on outstanding freestyles to cap the weekend off.

“Redcat Racing Ground Pounder was great for me all weekend, and in this heat, having a truck that can do the job is big,” said driver Chris Ryan. “We made it a great weekend for Sudden Impact Racing.”

Big wheelies, great air, and fast racing passes left the crowd satisfied and the team ready to head to their next event. We’ll keep you posted!

Warrenton, Missouri-Sudden Impact Racing continued a blazing hot summer tour with some extra fireworks the week after the Fourth of July. Warrenton, Missouri played host to a great event that featured Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Cult Energy Activator treating the fans to a fantastic performance in racing and freestyle.

“Rich (Hilgendorf) and I formed a great team this weekend with him in Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and myself in Cult Energy Activator,” said Ben Winslow. “Everything was fast-paced, the fans got a good show, and Sudden Impact Racing made every round count!”

The trucks each suffered breakage at various points of the night, but Sudden Impact Racing pulled together and fixed the broken parts between rounds, never missing a beat. Crew and drivers alike pitched in to ensure that the fans and sponsors got a full show. Redcat Racing Ground Pounder suffered a bent four-link bar after a spectacular save in the wheelie contest, but the team had the truck fixed in no time.

“Our crew was great this weekend, from getting me set up to hit the finals of racing to fixing Ground Pounder,” said Winslow. “Our biggest priorities are the fans, the sponsors, and our team.”

All three priorities were taken care of nicely in Warrenton, with Cult Energy Activator and Redcat Racing Ground Pounder closing out the night with outstanding freestyle runs to go with Cult Energy Activator’s final-round racing appearance. Mt. Pleasant, Michigan-Sudden Impact Racing took a trip to the Soaring Eagle Casino and hit the jackpot, running hard and thrilling the Michigan fans in the first-time event. Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber were at or near the top in every competition throughout the weekend, completing another show on their hot summer tour in style.

Amsoil Shock Therapy nearly planted the tailgate into the cars in a vertical sky wheelie during the wheelie contest, but was not judged the winner. Still, it was an impressive start to the show, and just gave the fans a tease of what Sudden Impact Racing had in store.

Amsoil Excaliber was the story of the racing portion of the event, qualifying second in the field on the turning course. Chicago-style tracks require precision and driver skill, and Amsoil Excaliber’s Chris Ryan demonstrated both in taking a trip to the racing final, just narrowly missing a huge victory.

“I feel better every weekend I’m behind the wheel of Amsoil Excaliber,” said Ryan. “The truck felt smooth, and I just missed getting a win. We had a great weekend overall!”

The great weekend concluded with Amsoil Excaliber getting in a few nice hits on the freestyle ramps, then passing the torch to Amsoil Shock Therapy, with driver Jon Zimmer burning up and down the track with big air and great momentum, stopping a bit early due to a broken shock but lighting up the fans nonetheless.

Another weekend in the record books for Sudden Impact Racing, and all of the new Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber fans headed home happy. Next, the team heads to Bark River, Michigan for a display at the TORC event. We will keep you posted!

Cottage Grove, Oregon-Sudden Impact Racing continued its tour of success among the trees of Oregon, with spectacular moments and more victories to add to their growing list of summer success. Friday ended with the fans on their feet cheering for Redcat Racing Ground Pounder, as Chris Ryan got wild during his freestyle and ended up with a body that had seen better days, rolling the truck over. Mechanically, however, both Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Cult Energy Activator worked perfectly, a testament to the Sudden Impact Racing Team’s work ethic and preparation.

“Cult and Redcat do a great job with the materials we need to get to the winner’s circle,” said Cult Energy Activator’s Ben Winslow. “In Oregon, we had a solid weekend, and did get a victory for the team!”

Cult Energy Activator and Redcat Racing Ground Pounder continued putting pressure on the rest of the field in racing, resulting in a final-round appearance for Cult Energy Activator and a racing victory for Redcat Racing Ground Pounder.

“We got a chance to tune some things with the engine and it worked out great,” said Ryan. “It was great to get a victory for Redcat Racing and our team, Sudden Impact Racing!”

Next up is a continuation of the tour of victories for Sudden Impact Racing, this weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Kallispell, Montana-Sudden Impact Racing is on a major roll. Between Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber, the Sudden Impact Racing team swept two days’ worth of racing and freestyle in Kallispell. Amsoil Excaliber started the victory streak in Friday’s show, winning the donut contest, followed up with a big racing victory for Amsoil Shock Therapy. It was back to Amsoil Excaliber in freestyle, with driver Rich Hilgendorf launching the truck everywhere in the mud to roars of approval from the crowd. Saturday was more of the same, with Amsoil Excaliber taking the wheelie contest victory. Racing came down to the two Sudden Impact Racing Amsoil trucks in the finals, with Amsoil Excaliber just edging Amsoil Shock Therapy.

“Anytime our two trucks meet in the finals, it’s a good night,” said Amsoil Shock Therapy’s Jon Zimmer. “We love it when we can sweep a weekend or get close to it, and we had a great weekend here in Kallispell.”

The capper of the weekend was Amsoil Shock Therapy’s Saturday freestyle, which was highlighted by huge jumps and a run through a mud pit on the track! Amsoil Shock Therapy was no worse for wear mechanically, but there will be some cleaning to do before next weekend!

It was safe to say that many new Amsoil and Sudden Impact Racing fans were made on the weekend due to both the trucks’ and drivers’ performances on track and off. Next up for Sudden Impact Racing is Mount Pleasant, Michigan for a great show at Soaring Eagle Casino.

TWO-CITY CLEAN SWEEP FOR SIR

Abbotsford and Victoria, BC-Sudden Impact Racing dominated a whirlwind weekend in British Columbia this past weekend, winning every competition in not one, but two locations in a span of three days. Cult Energy Activator and Redcat Racing Ground Pounder simply had no equal in both Abbotsford and Victoria.

The weekend began in Abbotsford, where Cult Energy Activator took home a hard-fought racing victory, then led a big air assault in freestyle with teammate truck Redcat Racing Ground Pounder. With high-energy racing and freestyle runs and nothing but wins in the book for the evening, it was mission accomplished.

“We drank a few Cults and got down to business,” Cult Energy Activator’s Sean Duhon said. “I felt good in racing, and my teammate, Chris Ryan, had a great freestyle in Redcat Racing Ground Pounder! We both left Abbotsford feeling great, and had a lot of fans come up and ask about both Cult Energy and the Ground Pounder RC!”

A three-hour ferry ride and some preventive maintenance work on the trucks then led Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Cult Energy Activator into Victoria, where it was more of the same. Redcat Racing Ground Pounder took a trip to the semifinals of racing, and Cult Energy Activator made it two for two on the weekend with the big racing victory! The trucks followed that up with great freestyle runs, and when the dust settled, Cult Energy Activator had a clean sweep, with the victory in freestyle as well.

“I love putting on a show for Cult, Redcat, and the fans,” said Duhon. “Sudden Impact Racing is a great team to drive on and work for, and we have great sponsors behind us. It makes life easier on me to run the truck as hard as we do and get a weekend full of victories!”

It was a picture perfect weekend for Sudden Impact Racing’s Cult Energy Activator and Redcat Racing Ground Pounder, and they will clean the trucks up and head to Cottage Grove, Oregon with a ton of momentum next weekend!

SIR MUDFEST ENDS IN MORE SUCCESS

Sheridan, WY-Sudden Impact Racing made the most out of a messy situation in Sheridan, Wyoming, leaving a rain-soaked, muddy track with some wet but happy new fans of Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber. Monster trucks are not made to withstand torrential downpours even with great traction, but the hard work and dedication of team Sudden Impact Racing enabled the trucks to turn a potential negative into a big positive.

Amsoil Excaliber had a bit of trouble in racing, but blasted out of the gate for freestyle primed to take the early lead, wowing the Wyoming fans with some big air before a steering ram problem ended driver Rich Hilgendorf’s run prematurely. The run was good enough to satisfy the cheering crowd and leave them ready for more. After a semifinal appearance in racing, Amsoil Shock Therapy stepped up to the challenge laid down by its teammate truck and blasted everything on the track, with huge leaps off of every obstacle on the track, along with some mud-soaked cyclone donuts. When the run ended, the fans were on their feet and cheering their appreciation for driver Jon Zimmer and Sudden Impact Racing’s Amsoil Shock Therapy!

“I knew the track wasn’t in the best condition because of the mud, but the truck was still fine,” Zimmer said. “Amsoil Shock Therapy’s always ready to go; Jeremy and the rest of the Amsoil team give us great support to be able to run hard. We have some pressure-washing in our future, but it was well worth it because we made the fans happy!”

After burning through the muddy course in Wyoming, Sudden Impact Racing heads to Kallispell, Montana for more action. We’ll keep you posted!

Redmond, Oregon-Sudden Impact Racing returned stateside after a tour of Canada and kept rolling along, with more impressive finishes in Oregon. Cult Energy Activator made solid passes all weekend in the wheelie, racing, and freestyle competitions, then made the fans scream with a run through the mud pit on the track!

“We’re always looking for something different to do to make the fans happy,” said driver Sean Duhon. “We have a lot of cleaning to do on the truck now, but it was fun and everyone seemed to like it!”

In addition to Cult Energy Activator, Redcat Racing Ground Pounder stole some highlights as well, with driver Brandon Lagarde making a final round of racing and putting some nice touches on freestyle as well.

“We had a good weekend and pushed the other trucks to tear their stuff up trying to beat us,” Lagarde said. “Redcat Racing puts out a great product that doesn’t quit, and our monster truck didnt’ quit on us either!”

Another hot summer weekend full of success in the books for Sudden Impact Racing! Next up for the team is a trip to Victoria, British Columbia next weekend!

Peterborough, ON and Gloucester, ON-Sudden Impact Racing’s tour north of the border continued with two shows in two days, and more success was the result. First up was Peterborough, where some of the best competition in the world was left speechless after Amsoil Shock Therapy’s barn-burning freestyle run that included massive air, cyclone donuts, and huge wheelies that ensured there would be no question as to who the winner was–Amsoil Shock Therapy!

“Both Jim (Koehler, freestyle champion driver of Avenger) and I laid down nasty freestyles,” said driver Jon Zimmer. “We had some room this weekend to be creative and I wanted to make sure every fan left knowing about the abilities everyone on the team has–it felt great and our trucks are able to handle the punishment because of sponsors like Amsoil.” (more…)

AMSOIL/SIR ARE THE PERFECT COMBINATION

Bathurst, NB-Sudden Impact Racing headed to Bathurst, New Brunswick for three shows and came away with more wins and confidence, with a lot of highlights and no breakage. Amsoil Shock Therapy was able to make the racing finals on Saturday night, losing narrowly, but making up for it later in the show. Meanwhile, John Killenger took over the seat of Amsoil Excaliber for the weekend as a substitute driver and wowed the crowd with an incredible save on Sunday evening.

“I just wanted to do my best filling in for Sudden Impact Racing,” said Killenger. “Amsoil and our other sponsors give us the tools to do three shows and not break a thing!”

Amsoil Shock Therapy showed what the Sudden Impact Racing attitude was all about, dominating the weekend’s three freestyle competitions. High-paced, high-momentum, full-out runs kept the crowd’s attention and Amsoil Shock Therapy all over the track, leaving the crowds in Bathurst mesmerized.

“They told me I won all three shows even though it technically wasn’t judged, but I’m pretty hard on myself because I want to do so well for Amsoil and Sudden Impact Racing,” said driver Jon Zimmer. “I was very pleased with my runs, and so were the fans, so it was a great weekend!”

Sudden Impact Racing’s next stop for Amsoil Shock Therapy and Amsoil Excaliber is the Gloucester Fair in Ontario, Canada. We will keep you posted!

BIG WINS, TEAM EFFORT IN MIAMI FOR SIR

Miami, Oklahoma-Sudden Impact Racing’s Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Cult Energy Activator make a great team no matter what the circumstances. Miami, Oklahoma was the site of that teamwork in action, with both Redcat Racing Ground Pounder and Cult Energy Activator taking victories over the two-day weekend.

Redcat Racing Ground Pounder was able to beat all comers in racing on his way to a narrow loss in his final-round matchup.

“We have two goals on the Redcat Racing Ground Pounder team—run hard, and make sure the fans and sponsors are happy,” said driver Ben Winslow. “I believe this weekend we got the job done for Redcat and for the fans; I was happy with it!”

In freestyle, Cult Energy Activator took a challenging situation and made the most of it, ending up with some breakage but thrilling the Oklahoma crowd.

“All of our windshields fogged up because of the weather before freestyle, so it was pretty tough to see,” said driver Sean Duhon. “We did the most we could with what we had, and I am always out to please Cult fans and our sponsors, so a little fog wasn’t gonna get us!”

Saturday’s show was Cult Energy Activator’s turn to shine in racing, where a final-round appearance ended in victory. Sudden Impact Racing was on a roll, as Redcat Racing Ground Pounder got things started with a fantastic freestyle that ended with a great set of donuts, priming the crowd for Cult Energy Activator’s weekend-capping freestyle. Duhon took Cult Energy Activator through its paces, including great momentum, slap wheelies, and great air into his run. It was a fitting end to another great weekend for the Sudden Impact Racing team. Next up is Redmond, Oregon on June 4-5.
